Questions: The last photo
1/15
-ISO=125, cloudy
-I froze sam riding a scooter. She rode the scooter in circles and I captured the photo when she was riding by me.
-I was looking strait on.
-The black in her pants and rims of the tables, the gray in her shirt to the gray outside, her brown hair to the orangish/brown color on the wall. The body which is in focus(positive space) to the background which is blurred(negative space). Using the rule of thirds I kept Sam's body basically in the middle but had her legs and the scooter go off to the left and the right.

- Rebecca took a flashlight and clicked it on and off while writing Erin.
- The photo looks interesting. Once somebody has seen the photo and learns that it was made using a flashlight it makes people think of how that purple light was made with just a flashlight.

Life
For an object I picked my stuffed animal bunny.
I got the bunny when I was about 3 or 4 from one of those build a bear shops that I went to with my godmother.
I don't get to see them to often so when I used to sleep with it I think of my family. I got the bunny while I was going shopping with my godmother and once I got home I got attached to it.
One of the photos that is different from the others is on a couch unlike the other ones that have a gray background. That photo was shot straight on like some of my other photos. I also did one shot from above, some from below, some from the side, and some at a diagonal angle.
I avoided distracting backgrounds mostly by cropping some of it and for most of them I used the clone stamp.
For the picture that the angle was up from above I positioned the bunny so that in a way it would almost look like it was about to pop off the page. The picture where the bunny was doing a split I positioned the bunny and the camera so that the bunny's shadow would show so that you could see the depth. Then the picture that I focused on the bunny's foot I was aiming to be able to show the shadows coming from the bunny and show the different levels of the bunny's foot, stomach and head.

Fence:
This photo is from line and shape. It was the first photo I took for the class. I took the photo when I went for a walk after school near my house. I took the photo from a straight on point of view. The way the fence is rounded leads your eye through the photo. The design on the fence is not noticeable at first but it is my favorite part of the photo because it is unique. |
Heart:
This photo is from Painting with light. The heart was made with a set of orange string lights. The shape is not a perfect heart but that's what makes it interesting. The line coming in from the right hand side leads your eye into the photo around the heart and then back out the photo. The photo is taken straight on. The photo was set with the shutter speed on 1.7 seconds.m |
My favorite Place:
This photo is not my favorite photo over all, but it is in my favorite place. The photo is taken in my front yard. I took the photo after I had gotten back from a trip to New Hampshire. Since I had just gotten back the snow had not been touched so the sun and the shadows of the tree's were reflected. I thought about the rule of thirds so that all the tree's wouldn't look centered. Also I included the well so that it wasn't just the tree's and the snow in the photo. It also catches your eye because the color of the well stands out. |
Purple Circles:
This photo is from painting with light. This photo in particular is one of my favorites because the circles lead your eye through the photo. Also I think the shade of purple is very appealing. The shutter speed was set on 1.6 seconds. It was taken with a set of purple string lights that were spun in a circular motion up and down. The photo was taken from above at a slight diagonal downward. |
Decaying Building:
The photo was taken straight on from across the river. I took the photo while on a walk with my family. When I saw the building I wanted to capture the decaying aspect of the building. It was a dark dreary day so the weather fit the look corresponding with the building. My favorite part of the photo personally is the reflection of the building on the water. The reflection is only slightly visible. The open spots where the windows would be add to the decaying aspect of the photo. |
School:
This was one of the first projects done during school. I wanted to capture the depth of the photo so that it wouldn't look flat. The photo is in black and white so that the focus of the photo is the sunlight and the shadows on the bricks. It was taken straight on. I wanted the viewer to be able to distinguish the bright light coming from the sunlight, the gray of the cement, and the dark shadows. |
Expressive Light
The light is coming from above. I took the photo straight on and used a reflector to take some of the harshness of the light anyway that was washing out her face due to her pale skin. My magazine’s name is “The Everyday Gardener” and she is a stay at home mom who likes to garden. Rebecca was a kind caring person who is a gardener and we created the story of her being a gardener by surrounding her with flowers and have her hold flowers and by giving her an angelic glow with the light.
Rebecca and I decided that we both liked this photo the best. My favorite thing about the photo is the light coming in from the upper left hand corner that comes across her face and gives her an angelic glow. The contrast between the grays and blacks work nicely as a range of values with the light shining across Rebecca’s face. The flowers wrapped around her neck lead you into the photo to explore the other aspects the photo has to offer. I blacked out the background which got rid of unneeded information in the background, so that there are no distractions. This allows you to focus on the more angelic aspects of the photo.
